Suzanne Animation Festival Submissions

The Blender Conference Animation Festival shows short films and visualizations reflecting the best creative work people did with Blender in the past year. We invite film makers, artists, animators, designers or scientists to submit their work.
2011 Winners
Congratulations to the 2011 winners, chosen from the following Nominations!
Best Character Animation: Iceland Express Ad Campaign, by Studio Midstraeti
Best Designed Short: Assembly: Life in Macrospace, by Jonathan Lax and Ben Simonds
Best Short Film: Babioles, by Mathieu Auvray
Submissions by Region
Character Animation
This award goes to character animation. The submitted video does not have to be a finished product. It can be fully rendered, but may for instance also be a video capture from the game engine.
Short film
For this award we nominate work that has a clear director's signature. The audience will choose a winner because it is just the best experience to watch... whether it is for story telling, camera direction, staging or the great characterization.
Designed Short Film
Covers only the visual aspects of the submitted video. Simply put, the prettiest looking short film.
Secrets revealed: P.A.R.A.D.O.X.A - The Awakening (part 1)
There is something to be gleaned from P.A.R.A.D.O.X.A., one of the many submissions to this years' Suzanne festival, and Martin Levasseur and Kateryna Vyetrogon, the creators, agreed to expose some of it's secrets.
These guys used a python script so the animation in their piece could be done with a multi-touch MIDI setup using 9 different sliders.
"Why not just use a mouse?" questions one of Suzanne's minions.
Most of all Suzanne entries on a YouTube channel
Most of you would have read a post on Blendernation recently about a Youtube channel set up by Joeri Kassenaar with a collection of most of the Suzanne Award entries over the past 10 years.
Winners 2011
Congratulations to the winners of this years' festival, chosen from the following nominations:
A note to all submitters
The nominations have been made!
Reaching a final decision was very tough, and there were many factors to take into account. This year there were about 140 entries, of which only 15 could be picked. There were plenty which might well have made it through. To those, we hope you partake again next year, and continue producing your work. Some made us laugh, others left us inspired, and most were just great to watch. The variety of work is fantastic.
Dates, Deadlines and Flow of events
